Corozal overpowers Ponce 3-0

Corozal has an excellent beginning to the game by opening an 8-1 lead which brings the technical time-out after a Vilmarie Mojica Kill. A kill by the middle blocker Rayma Robles puts the score at 10-1 and Ponce takes a time-out. By the second technical time-out the Pinkin leads 16-5. Corozal wins 19-9 after a good block and Ponce has to take another time out. Corozal wins the set 25-13.

The second game begins just like the first one, with Corozal holding a 8-0 lead behind a great serving performance from Kristee Porter. The Pinkin keep up their great execution and force Ponce into making countless mistakes. Corozal leads 16-8 at the second technical time-out. The Leonas take their second time-out trailing 23-13. Corozal wins the second game 25-15.

In the third the Leonas attempt a comeback and lead 8-6 at the first technical time-out. But Ponce’s energy runs out and the Pinkin retake the lead 11-10 and 16-11 after a kill by Rayma that forces the second technical time out. Ponce can’t contain the Pinkin attack and has to take another time out losing 19-14. Corozal earns the victory 25-19. Podcast

Corozal wins its fourth game

The Corozal Pinkin won their fourh game of the season when they beat the Juncos Valencianas in straight sets 25-23, 25-22 and 25-21. Corozal had a great effort by Erin Moore with 17 points and Yamileska Yantín with 13. Corozal improves to 4-2 while Juncos falls to 2-3. The Corozal Pinkin play again on Sunday when the travel to Ponce to face the Leonas. Podcast

Guaynabo gets its first win

The Guaynabo Mets earned their first win of the season with an impressive 3-0 victory over the defending champs, Corozal Pinkin. The scores of the match were 25-23, 25-22, and 25-18. That was the only match scheduled for today. Podcast










Corozal gets its 3rd victory

Corozal Pinkin won its third match of the season defeating the Carolina Gigantes in five games: 25-19, 23-25, 16-25, 25-18, and 15-11. Its was a hard-fought match with Corozal getting the upper hand early with an effective serve which caused problems for the Gigantes’ offense. However, late in the second and in the third game, it was Corozal having trouble with their reception and passing. The fourth game became a must win for the Pinkin and they responded rallying behind strong kills from Yamileska Yantín. In the fifth game Corozal took the lead for good at 7-6 and won 15-11 in a nice kill from Erin Moore. Yamileska Yantín was the top scorer for Corozal with 24 points, followed by Erin Moore with 21.
