Game Summary
The match
starts with a early lead by Caguas, but the Pinkin show good blocking
and take the lead, 8-7. The Criollas tie the game at 9, and take
advantage of four consecutive miscues by Corozal to go up 13-9. A
Jetzabel Del Valle block gives Caguas a 16-12 lead halfway through. The
Pinkin fall behind 19-13, before their defense and their blocking allow
them to rally within 21-18 forcing a Caguas time-out. The Criollas score
the next to points to lead 23-18, and Corozal is not able to stop Caguas
from winning, 25-19.
The Pinkin open the second
game in great form, taking a 7-4 lead, but again mistakes cost them
dearly as Caguas takes an 8-7 edge after consecutive aces by Barbara
Flores.Both teams continue to battle for the lead, tying the score in
several ocassion. Corozal has a 16-15 lead halfway through the second
game, and manage to make it 21-17, when Caguas calls a time-out.
However, inconsistency continues to plague Corozal's game and the
Criollas tie the score at 21 and then take a 24-22 lead on an ace by
Vanessa Vélez. Jessica Candelario ties the score at 24 with another ace,
but Caguas takes the lead again 25-24. Tejaira Ruíz gives the Pinkin
breathing room by tying the score yet again, at 25. But a block by
Jetzabel Del Valle finally gives the win to Caguas, 27-25.
Nothing goes right for the
Pinkin at the beginning of the third game, falling behind 7-0, after
making 6 mistakes in the first seven plays. Corozal manages to score
three points in a row, but Caguas leads, 8-3. The Criollas open up an
11-6 lead and the Pinkin call a time-out. A block by Rayma Robles on Kim
Willoughby and a kill by Jessenia Resto put Corozal within one, 13-12,
before they tie it 13 all on a Caguas hitting error. But the Pinkin's
rally is temporary, and they fall behind again, 20-17.
Corozal manages to score just one more point, as they fall 25-18.
